Loving
Daddy - A Tribute to James E. Murphy Sr.
June 17, 1943 - November 18, 2008
A loving father to four children, a wonderful grandfather, sweet brother, uncle, a loving husband and the most amazing man around. Some will know him for his loving smile, his hearty laugh, his witty antics and some will simply know him as daddy. That is how we know him. He was our father, friend, confidante and our strength.
Many people looked at his heavy build and would immediately be scared of him but soon would find out that he was a very sweet man with a huge heart. He did not mind helping others and would often go above and beyond to help someone.
Knowing the Lord
In 2005 James Murphy found his calling with God and dedicated the rest of his life to serving the Lord. He was Baptized at Greater Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and later became a usher for the same Church. He truly enjoyed doing his duty in serving the Lord and was very proud of himself.Years prior James never went to Church no matter how much others tried to get him to go, he just wouldn't but once he found his way to the Lord he thrived for more and more knowledge. He read his bible faithfully, attended Church faithfully, did his part with his Tithes and he was not asshamed to share his knowledge of the Lord with others.
When he moved from Brooklyn, NY in 2006, he was heartbroken that he had to leave his Church behind. Not too long after residing in Kennesaw, Ga had he found another Church he would attend faithfully and began to call home.

A poem written and read at his homegoing services by Cassandra
Most times we never understand
when we lose a loved one
People give condolences and love
but how do we get passed what was done?
We think about the memories
the times that made us smile
The love he gave, the life he lived
that makes it all worthwhile
It's no secret the bond we had
I was your spoiled brat
even when I made you mad
But just like mommy, whose path you crossed
you were never forgot
A smile so bright, a laugh so hearty
to get your face out of my mind is something I will not
So when I shed a tear today,
maybe two or three
I'm not shedding them in loss of you
but because now you are free.
